About us

An independent voice for human rights and anti-corruption in business.

The Nordic Institute for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption (NIHRAC) was founded in Sweden in 2013 under the name The Academy for Human Rights in Business. In 2026, the organisation adopted its current name to reflect its expanded focus on anti-corruption advisory services, education, and strategic guidance.

Parul Sharma — founder and Secretary-General

NIHRAC is led by founder and Secretary-General Parul Sharma, an internationally recognised expert in sustainability, compliance, human rights, and anti-corruption. Her work has focused extensively on high-risk markets and industries, combining legal expertise with strategic leadership across both the private and public sectors.

NIHRAC works to increase awareness of how corruption undermines democratic institutions, enables organised crime and infiltration, and threatens the transition toward sustainable and green economies. The organisation believes that businesses, institutions, and public actors all play a critical role in advancing transparent, accountable, and rights-based development.

The human rights and anti-corruption advisory and trainings developed and supported by NIHRAC continue to serve as valuable tools both nationally and internationally. With Parul Sharma’s extensive international experience in development cooperation, business and human rights, public procurement, and sustainable supply chains, NIHRAC is uniquely positioned to strengthen the global relevance of anti-corruption and responsible business standards.
